Violin & Piano Lessons
Lessons overview: I currently teach out of two different locations. One studio is located in Arlington, WA 98223 and the other music studio is located out of my home in Bothell, WA 98021. Lessons in Bothell are offered on Mondays and Tuesdays all day, Wednesday afternoons, and Saturday mornings. Arlington lessons are on Thursdays and Fridays.
Lessons are once a week, four times a month. Please look at 'Studio Policies' section for details.
I host two recitals a year, one in early June, and a Christmas themed recital in December. Playing in front of people regularly is a great motivator to practice, as well as developing a comfort with performing in public. I try to find as many opportunities for my students to perform as they desire. As an active member of the Washington State Music Teachers Association, competitions and adjudications are available for those students who desire. Participation in any activities is optional.
I teach a variety of different types of students: very young, elderly, ADD, autistic, ESL... Anyone is welcome to come and learn!
All new students are required to fill out and submit the following forms: Lessons Registration Form, Studio Policies Consent Form, and the Preferred Payment Form.
Violin lessons: Mostly I use a classical approach. Good technique and note reading/theory skills are very important. I teach the Suzuki Method along with a variety of song books. Also, I enjoy working with fiddle students: Irish, Scottish and Celtic, and American: Bluegrass, Oldtime, and Cajon fiddling. I teach beginning viola students, also.
For violin students, I teach children as young as four years old.
Piano lessons: For most piano students I use the Alfred Basic Piano Library. This method emphasizes a development of music vocabulary and note reading abilities. The piano is such a great instruments because of the great variety of music a student can learn: classical, modern, jazz, rags, blues, hymns, pop songs, country, chord approach, and more. I am comfortable with all styles of music and enjoy accommodating a students desired approach. I accept piano students as young as three years old.
