Studio Policies

ENROLLMENT

Please read studio policies carefully. You will be expected to follow the policies outlined below.

In order to start lessons, please fill out and return registration form, preferred method of payment, and signed studio policies consent form. The only other item needed to start lessons is an instrument to practice at home with.

Upon starting lessons, I collect the last month’s tuition. Please reference below.

BILLING & PAYMENT

Tuition is a monthly fee due at the beginning of the first lesson of each month. Payment for a full month's music lessons is due in full whether the student attends each lesson or not. The flat monthly fee covers four lessons per month, except for December, when it covers three lessons. Regardless of the number of lessons you receive in a month, the fee remains the same.

Tuition is non refundable.

METHOD OF PAYMENT

Cash, credit cards: MasterCard & Visa, and money orders are accepted. I will not accept personal checks. Credit card transactions have an additional fee of 2%.

CANCELLATIONS AND MAKEUP LESSONS

Your lesson is at a specific time each week and it is expected that you attend at the scheduled time. I run my studio at full capacity, so time slots for make-up lessons are dependent upon other students giving me plenty of notice for cancellations. Unfortunately, I do not have the flexibility to guarantee make-up lessons.

Makeup lessons will be issued as follows:

#1) Minimum 24 hour notice is required for consideration to reschedule lessons. Makeup lessons will be offered if another student vacates their lesson time slot for the week. Otherwise, lessons will not be rescheduled. I cannot postpone lessons until another week due to my full schedule.

#2) With at least 48 hours notice, I can try to arrange with another student to trade timeslots for that week.

If I cancel a lesson due to an illness or other circumstances, we will schedule a make-up lesson.

RECITALS

There are two recitals held per year, a Christmas music recital in early December and the second recital is held in early June. The fee per participant is $10.

Arlington recitals will be held at the Arlington United Methodist Church and Bothell recitals will be held at Mills Music in Bothell.

Please let me know if you are not interested in participating in Christmas music due to religious reasons.

SUMMER LESSONS

Learning is a continuous process. Therefore, lessons in my studio are 12 months a year. Continuous enrollment and payment are required to take lessons with me.

I assume students who choose to stop lessons during the summer will not return in the fall. Please arrange to use your last months tuition for June if you plan on stopping lessons.

Students who stop lessons in the summer and want to resume in the fall with be scheduled last and not guaranteed a timeslot. The best way to continue lessons is by not discontinuing them.

SNOW DAYS
My snow days policy depends upon location. In Bothell, lessons are still offered but cannot be reschedule to another day. In Arlington, if Arlington School District is closed due to snow, lessons are canceled without a makeup. This is due to my long commute to Arlington, which I will not drive if the roads are unsafe. Any Arlington student is welcome to come to the Bothell studio for a lesson that day if they desire.

TERMINATION OF LESSONS
Upon signing up for lessons, last month's tuition was prepaid. In order to use the prepaid month I require at least 30 days notice of termination of lessons.
Less than 30 days notice results in a forfeit of the last month’s tuition.

CALENDAR

There are four lessons a month, except December. December only has three lessons. There are no lessons on spring break and major holidays. Please reference the lessons calendar, which will be handed out upon starting lessons.
